苏威（SOLVAY）于2010年5月1日正式亮相上海2010年世界博览会。“城市，让生活更美好”，作为此次世博会的主题，它为参展企业提供展示其对未来技术发展、更好地造福于生活在这个星球上的居民所做的贡献和努力。
苏威将借本次世博会的平台，在比利时/欧盟展馆向世人展示其依靠科学技术和在可再生能源、能源储藏、新型和绝缘塑料方面的长足经验。我们将以“阳光动力号”太阳能飞机项目让大家更直观的了解其依靠太阳能实现昼夜飞行。追溯到2004年，苏威作为“阳光动力号”计划最初阶段的首要合作伙伴加入该计划，由最初获得认证资格的25个不同应用领域的11个部件一直发展到如今另人振奋的6000多的部件。“阳光动力号”刚于2010年4月7日完成了她的处女飞，计划于今年晚些时候完成36小时专靠太阳能动力无间断飞行。
除此之外，苏威将与另外4家公司一起向参观者展示比利时化学工业和生命科学技术。世博会期间更有机 会展示比利时北部大港安特卫普正在建设中的利用超大燃料电池 SolVin基地。苏威特种聚合物材料使用在世界上最大的这类燃料电池中，利用电解产生的富余的氢进行发电，发电量达1M瓦，可供2000户家庭使用。这项仅为水的副产品的尖端技术，振奋着行业未来发展和陆路运输。
苏威在本次世博会的亮相标志着苏威为明日的挑战提供化学技术方案的坚定信念和信心。

Solvay announced on April 30th that it is present at the Universal Exposition 2010 Shanghai China, which is opening its doors for public on May 1st, 2010. “Better City, Better Life”, the theme chosen for the event, will allow the exhibitors to demonstrate the efforts and know-how they are injecting into developing the technologies of the future, technologies that will give the planet’s inhabitants, most of whom are city dwellers, a better quality of life.
Solvay will use the Expo as a stage to present the solutions offered by Chemistry as well as its expertise in the fields of renewable energies, energy storage, performances of plastic materials and thermal insulation. This will be illustrated, on the one hand, by Solar Impulse, a project with its sights set on launching a plane exclusively powered by solar energy, capable of flying by day and by night. Solvay has been the project’s main partner since its launch in 2004. The developments inspired by this project have lead to the qualification of 11 products entering into 25 different applications and adding up to a total of over 6000 parts. Solar Impulse performed its maiden flight on April 7th, 2010 and will perform the first non-stop 36 hours flight exclusively on solar power later this year.
Also, Solvay will be present, along with four other companies, on the Essenscia stand, an organization that represents the Belgian Chemicals and Life Sciences sector. The Expo will provide an opportunity to showcase the very large fuel cell under construction on the SolVin site in the port of Antwerp, Belgium. Thanks in particular to the use of Solvay specialty polymers, the largest fuel cell of this type in the world will reconvert the surplus hydrogen generated by electrolysis and deliver 1 megawatt of electricity, or the equivalent of the consumption of around 2000 homes. This technology, whose only by-product is water, offers exciting prospects for industry and road transport.
Solvay’s presence at the Expo Shanghai 2010 symbolizes its firm conviction that Chemistry can offer solutions to the challenges of tomorrow.
